Andreas Afxentiou Georgiou

Andreas was born in Eptakomi on 14/12/55 where he also went to primary school. After he worked as a mechanic in a garage in Famagusta.
He was conscripted to the National Guard in January 1972 and was serving during the invasion in 1974 at Diomisi Mili. On 20 July his regiment was sent to the region Sakkaria where he took part in a campaign of resistance against the Turks. At the beginning of August he was transferred to Pyrgos at Famagusta Port.. When the Turkish troops entered Famagusta on 15 August the National Guard were ordered to retreat and he has not been seen since.
His family informs us that soldiers who served

with him say he was seen imprisoned at the Pavlides Garage by a number of people. A Turkish fellow villager states that he saw him wounded at a Famagusta hospital and spoke to him. Another Turkish fellow villager claims to have seen him working at a garage in Turkey and when he asked him his name he gave him details of his identity and village. The Turk described him in detail to his family and he resembled Andreas. This information has not as yet been officially verified. Andreas has been missing since then
